iphone battery extender

iphone battery charger

Let’s face it, sometimes the batteries in our cell phones just aren’t enough and usually they start to lose much of their juice as they get older. That’s where a mini battery extender for your iPhone 3G comes in and saves the day. The Kensington Mini Battery Extender is a rechargeable battery that helps extend the talk time of your iPhone 3G. iPhoneNewsBlog did a useful review of the Kensington Mini Battery Extender and charger below:

I’ve had the Kensington Mini Battery Extender and Charger since the first week I had my iPhone 3G and it’s become a very handy accessory for me. There are many ways to save battery life on the iPhone 3G and first generation iPhone, but lets face it: eventually, you will have a day where you’ve used all of your iPhone’s juice and you’ll have no way to plug it in to recharge. Apple’s design doesn’t allow for a user replaceable battery, so until they design an iPhone with one, this is probably one of your best bets.

The Kensington Mini Battery Extender is a very nice size and matches the iPhone 3G or original iPhone in width. The case is made of metal, not plastic which is nice. It gives you confidence that this battery is well made. It also has 3 battery level lights (blue LED) and a low power warning/charging light that shows red when low and green when the iPhone is fully charged.

iphone stylus

iphone stylus

Some who switch over from a PDA to an iPhone still prefer the feel of a touch pen or stylus over using their greasy fingers. With the two major products on the market being the Touch Stylus and Pogo iPhone Stylus which one is better for you? Macenstein did a thorough review of both the iPhone stylus types to make it easier for us the consumer to decide. Macenstein liked the look of the Japanese Touch Stylus but they said its flexible tip was too hard to use with the Pogo iPhone stylus being far easier and more accurate. Check out macenstein.com for the full review.

The CVT i3101 alarm clock for the Apple iPod and iPhone has all the same features as many of the alarm clock docks on the market. It charges your iPod and iPhone while playing your music, it has a built-in FM radio and is an alarm clock. It has one real cool feature however, it’s very slim can be mounted on your wall or anywhere else you have room for it. It also has a kickstand in case you want to put it on your desk or nightstand. The CVTi3101 goes for $99.95 at 100milligrames.

When it comes to cell phone cases I’m very picky, especially when it comes to cases for my iPhone 3G. While most cases on the market do an adequate job at preventing scratches and absorbing shocks in case your phone is dropped, they’re usually either really cheesy looking or add too much bulk. Acrylic cases do a great job at protecting an iPhone in case it has been dropped, but one drop usually means the end of the case itself. Some also cause more scratches than they prevent with the plastic-on-plastic rubbing that happens with most acrylic cases. The biggest annoyance of an acrylic case to me is the added bulk. One of the coolest things about the iPhone is its slim body and stylish good looks. While acrylic cases are clear and still let you see that Apple logo, they add a good deal of heft making the slim iPhone not so slim anymore.

Another option is a silicone case for your iPhone. They provide great protection against scratches and shock from drops, but they’re not always the most attractive of cases. One of the main complaints of a silicone cases is the material they’re made out of. They have a non-slick surface which prevents your iPhone from sliding around on different surfaces or in your pocket. This same material makes it really difficult and somewhat annoying when you actually have to pull your iPhone out of your pocket.

Inspiretech’s new iPhone 3G case

Recently I had the opportunity to try out a new type of iPhone 3G case from Inspiretech. Their iPhone 3G Full Protector case made of a highly durable polycarbonate material is a slick new style of case I haven’t seen before. It covers the entire backing and side edges and up and over to the front edge almost up to the screen of the iPhone 3G. The polycarbonate material has a really sturdy and strong feeling while still being very light. It adds barely any weight or bulk at all.

The case provides great protection from scratches or scrapes and has a cloth padding inside the case to help with absorption in case of a fall. The case has a two piece “snap-lock” design that leaves full access to the touch screen and all ports along the side. The painted finish on the case is very slick, especially in flat black. It really complements the style of the iPhone 3G without looking too generic or cheesy like a lot of the other cases on the market. At only $15 for the Full Protector case from Inspiretech, it’s a great case at a great price that won’t break the bank leaving you with some extra cash to spend on an iPhone app or two. They’re available in blue, red and matte black.

Brando has released their Mobile Phone Telescope for the iPhone 3G which increases the quality those blurry camera pics you always take. The camera telescope attaches to your iPhone via a crystal case, the Mobile Phone Telescope also features color reduction, a super wide angle and the ability to avoid contorted images. This little device seems like a novelty when you can just invest in a good point and shoot camera that fits in your pocket.

at&t

AT&T has reported a substantial increase in revenue during their second-quarter, no doubt due to their exclusive deal with the Apple iPhone. AT&T said sales in the first 12 days of the iPhone 3G was double that of the first iPhone. Another big source of revenue for them are the added data plans that customers sign-up for when they purchase iPhones and other smart phones. AT&T also stated that they’ve added 1.3 million new subscribers recently. It looks like AT&T, and Apple, will be laughing all the way to the bank for a while to come.
