According to the Wall Street Journal, Google’s Android mobile platform is being delayed again. This comes after difficulty coordinating the next generation mobile software with wireless providers. It was originally slated for release in the second quarter of 2008, but now it looks more like 2009.
So far T-Mobile, Sprint Nextel, and China Mobile have plans to integrate the new mobile platform into their service. However, it seems that internal difficulties with getting the matter together.
Android is designed to be a competitor with Apple’s OS X Mobile platform, however as delays continue, it seems less and less likely that this will occur.
While Android is still under development, Apple has made vast improvements to their OS, and even release the second generation of their iPhone.
Google’s OS is marketed as being more open and easy to use, but as development lurches on speculators are wondering just when they will be able to get their hands on a stable complete version suitable for independent software developers.
