iPhone App

The CIA World Factbook is a great resource for statistics and now that great resource is coming to the iPod Touch or iPhone. This app is available at the app store for 0.99 and will be useful when people are not connected to the internet. The reviews have been pretty favorable so far. I only wonder though, why pay for something when you can get the wiki-companion for free and it can present much more information about countries. I guess the stipulation is that for the wiki app you must be connected to the internet. Still, the World Factbook app is worth checking out for those travelling often.

Usually, I would suggest against any such device for your iPod. But with great marketing on part of iStik, or rather great advertisement photos, I might change my mind. iStik has offered consumers their new magnetic cases for the iPod Nano. It is very easy to oeprate and attach. All you have to do is just stick the iPod Nano in the case and put the other magnetic piece on the other side of the clothing and WA LA….your iPod Nano sticks to you. As of the moment, iStik cases only come for the iPod Nano, but they said they are working on developing other cases for the othe iPods and the iPhone. A release date and price tag has yet to be announced. But for now, enjoy the great product photos.

iGPS360

OrangeGadget just announced that will release a GPS device for the original iPhone and the iPod touch. The iGPS360 gives the GPS deprived iPhone 2G and iPod touch GPS functions by plugging into the bottom of the iPhone or iPod touch. The iGPS360 has a built-in battery that will store GPS info so it can quickly pin point where you’re at after turning the device off. The iGPS360 is charged via a micro USB that comes with the device and it charges both the iGPS360 and your iPhone or iPod touch at the same time. The major drawback to the iGPS360 is that it only works with jail broken iPhone and iPod touches as the iGPS360 can’t access the OS on non jail broken devices. Only 1000 units will be made so pick yours up ASAP.

I usually don’t watch much TV, but I found this clip over at Macenstein and thought I should share it with the world.

I happen to find this commercial hilarious only because it makes me think about how we all love Apple products, but Apple is still just a minority in the electronics industry, aside from the iPhone. Also, since sales of the iPod have been declining, it made this clip even more hilarious…at least for me. But when it comes to MP3 players, nothing beats an iPod!!!

google street view for the iphone

The newly seeded iPhone firmware 2.2 beta is said to have Google Street View included. If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years Google Street View is a revolutionary program from Google that lets you see many locations from you guess it, a street view. It allows you to look 360 degrees in every direction as if you were standing right there in the middle of the street. Many thought Google Street View would be an Android only feature, now it looks as if iPhone users will be able to enjoy this useful service as well.

A few analysts have looked over Steve Job’s adjusted revenue numbers he released last week, and it shows that iPod sales last quarter  were only 14.2% of Apple’s total revenue. This is down from 55.6% in the first quarter of 2006. Ever since that quarter, Apple’s iPod sales have been slowly diminishing. Check out the following graph:

Although sales of the iPod have been declining as of late, revenue numbers for Apple show that this dip in iPod sales have had little to no effect on revenue for Apple.

The only explanation I can come up with to the declining iPod sales is because the iPhone is doing so well. People are opting for an iPhone, which is basically just an iPod Touch with a phone built-in. So Apple really has nothing to worry about in terms of iPod sales, but I’m pretty sure Steve Jobs is still concerned over the sales of his baby. If it weren’t for the iPod, Apple wouldn’t experience the same success they are experiencing now. The iPod is what made Steve Jobs and help built the Apple selling machine.
